Having the appropriate gear for emergencies is essential. We've created a very basic emergency kit that goes with us on every trip, from backpacking to extended wilderness canoe trips. This kit is packed in a dry bag to that ensure all the items stay dry. We actually each carry one of these kits in our packs to be sure that in an emergency, we have the needed tools. The emergency kit focuses on the basics: shelter, water, fire, and food. Most of these items can be found at your local Walmart or Big-Box store, although the Water Purification Tablets may be the exception,. These can easily be found on Amazon.
